DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
OF
GRACE FELLOWSHIP CHURCH
50 ORCHARD STREET
MIDLAND PARK, NEW JERSEY 07432
"But to him who does not work but believes
on Him who justifies
the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness."
Romans 4:5
We believe that all who put their faith in the Lord Jesus
Christ as their Savior, believing that He died to pay for their
sins on the cross (1CO 15:3), are saved by the grace of God
through faith alone (EPH 2: 8-9) and are baptized into Christ
by the Holy Spirit (1CO 12:13) and sealed in Him till the
day of the rapture (EPH 1:13, 4:30). All who thus believe in
the Lord Jesus Christ are welcome in the fellowship of Grace
Fellowship Church.
"I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you
to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with
all lowliness and gentleness, with long suffering, bearing with
one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit
in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just
as you were called in one hope of your calling, one Lord, one
faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all,
and through all, and in you all. "(EPH 4:1-6)
Desiring to be in full accord with the mind of the Spirit
for this present dispensation, we hold to the following doctrinal
beliefs:
The Bible
The entire Bible - all 66 books - in its original writings
is the verbally inspired God breathed word of God and is of plenary
authority (2TI. 3:16,17)
(2PE 1:21)
The Godhead
There is one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit. (DEU 6:4) (1TI 2:5) (EPH 4:4-6) (MAT 28:19) (2 Cor. 13:14)
The Person of Christ
Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the
Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. (Luke 1:35) (Phil.
2:6-9) (Rom. 1: 3,4)
The Condition of Lost Mankind
All men by nature are sinners and are, therefore, totally unable
by their own wisdom or strength to do anything pleasing to God.
(Eph. 2:1-3) (Rom. 3:9-12) (Rom 3:23) (1 Cor. 1: 18-3 1)
Salvation
God justifies ungodly sinners by His grace upon the ground
of the shed blood of Christ through the means of faith. This
complete salvation is bestowed as a free gift of God apart from
man's works. (Rom. 3:24-28) (Rom. 4:5) (Rom 5:1,9) (Eph. 2:8,9)
Eternal Security
All the saved are eternally secure and sealed in Christ. (Col. 3:1-4) (Phil. 1:6) (Rom. 8:38, 39) (Eph. 1:13, 14)
(Eph. 4:30)
Those Who Die Without Christ
Nowhere does Scripture extend the hope of salvation to the
unsaved dead but instead reveals that they will ever continue
to exist in a state of conscious suffering. We do not believe
in the teachings of Universal Salvation or reconciliation, of
annihilation or of the unconsciousness of the unsaved dead. (Col.
3:6) (Rev. 20:11-15) (2 Thes. 1:9)
The Church
In the present dispensation there is only one true Church,
which is called the Body of Christ. (1 Cor. 12:13) (Eph. 1:22,23)
(Eph. 3:1-6) The historical manifestation of the Body of Christ
began with the Apostle Paul (Acts 9) before he wrote his first
epistle. (I Thes. 2:14-16) (Acts 18:45) (Phil. 1:5,6) (Acts 16)
(1 Cor. 12:13,27) (Acts 18)
Gifts
The gifts necessary for the ministry of the Body of Christ
are those enumerated in Eph. 4:11. Of these, only the gifts of
evangelists and pastors-teachers are in operation today. All
the sign gifts of the acts period, such as tongues, prophesy
and healing (I Cor. 12:1-31), being temporary in character,
have ceased (1 Cor. 13:8-11)
Baptism
All saved persons have been made members of the Body of Christ
by one divine baptism. (I Cor. 12:13) By this one baptism every
member of the Body of Christ is identified with Christ in his
death, burial, and resurrection. In the fight of the statement
concerning the "one baptism" in Ephesians 4:5, the
statements concerning baptism in Colossians 2:12 and Romans 6:3,4
and Paul's statement in 1 Corinthians 1:17 that "Christ
sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel", we affirm
that water baptism has no place in God's spiritual program for
the Body of Christ in this day of grace.
The Lord's Supper
The communion of the Lord's Supper as revealed through the
Apostle Paul in (I Corinthians 11:23-26) is for members of the
Body of Christ to observe, "Until He comes."
Resurrection
Jesus Christ was resurrected bodily from the dead (Luke 24:39-43).
Therefore (I Cor. 15:2 1), all men will have a bodily resurrection,
(Acts 24:15) the saved to everlasting glory and the unsaved to
everlasting punishment. (John 5:29) (Rev. 20:11-15)
Rapture
The rapture of the Church "which is His Body," will
take place before the great tribulation. (I These. 4:16-17) For
the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with
the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the
dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and
remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to
meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Purpose and Mission of Grace Fellowship Church
Ambassadorship: Proclaiming the message of reconciliation
(2 Cor 5:14-21) and preaching Jesus Christ according to. the
revelation of the mystery, (Rom. 16: 25) with all boldness, rightly
dividing the word of truth. In this we follow the teachings of
the Apostle Paul, as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ revealed
the message of Grace to him. We, like Paul, must preach the entire
Word of God in the light of this gospel. (2 Tim. 4:2)
Edification: From whom the whole body fitly joined together
and compacted by that, which every joint supplied, according
to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh
increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. (Eph.
4:16)
The Christian Walk
By reason of Christ's victory over sin and His indwelling
Spirit, all of the saved may and should experience deliverance
from the power of sin by obedience to Romans 6:11. As saints
and members of the true Church we are to maintain Christ honoring
testimony, separate from all forms of worldliness and apostasy,
demonstrating obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ and love to
all men. (Rom. 12:1-2)
